Do minimum payments hurt our consumers?

There is one thing right now that a vast majority of America would benefit from and that is to free themselves from the horrors of bad credit card debt.  Credit card debt will suck peoples finances dry in such a way that almost no other type of debt will do.  The monthly minimum payment scheme is so against the debtor it is ridiculous.  People lose tens of thousands over the long haul and will spend decades trying to get out of debt.  With a good debt relief programs people will find themselves in a much better spot as far as their finances are concerned.
