Their job specifications include house keeping the stables the horse live in clean, dry and comfortable. This involves cleaning the stables, brushing the animals, feeding, watering and handling the horses. A groom should check the animals for fleas, medical conditions, lameness, check their hooves and even give medicine to the horses if required. There are grooms that feed them their daily supplement of vitamins, bathe them and even walk them to their racing slots. If the stable hand has the right physical attributes they have great chances of becoming jockeys.
