You can tape someones voice with that tiny thing?

I thought this woman at work was getting to be very mean, she was always saying stuff to me when no one else was around. Always harassing me all the time, I know you cannot legally tape someone without them knowing but I just wanted her to know I was not going to take her garbage anymore. So I purchased a small audio recorder device and kept it around so the next time I would get here on tape, it worked I played it after for her and told her to get off my back or I was taking it to the boss. She leaves me be now.
