Reporter’s First Assignment Not Quite Successful
July 1, 2010 3:21 am News and SocietyMarcy was a new reporter for the Times, and she was given her first assignment. It was to cover the Extended Unemployment Benefits vote at the House of Congress. She arrived there an hour early, but the place was already mobbed with other reporters waiting for updates. She jostled her way to the top of the staircase leading up to the building, firmly planted her high-heeled shoe-clad feet in place, and waited for something exciting to happen. Unfortunately, after about an hour and a half of waiting, a person came out and announced to the press that the vote was to be rescheduled for a later date. The reporters all groaned in unison, and Marcy, extremely disappointed in the way her first assignment turned out, made her way back down the stairs.
